Speculation and Detection: Explorations in Genre Fiction attempts to familiarise the students, researchers, and faculty with the ongoing debates and the critical concerns of the genres of Speculative Fiction (SF) and Detective Literature (DL). A collection of academic essays on the works of Margaret Atwood, Kazuo Ishiguro, Ibn-e Safi, Madhulika Liddle, and Kathy Reichs is curated here, along with section-wise introductions that acquaint the readers with the trajectories of SF and DL. Alongside, prominent themes such as dystopia, utopia, bioethics, posthumanism, crime, forensics, gender, historical fiction, etc. are explored in detail. The book also contains a section that is devoted to theoretical essays by Robert A. Heinlein, N. Katherine Hayles, Donna Haraway, Charles J. Rzepka, and Joy Palmer that form the background to this paper.
